New Massachusetts Data Security Regulations
An Experienced Business Lawyer Helps Professionals and Businesses with Compliance
Jeff Fraser currently assists all professionals and businesses in Massachusetts in their efforts to comply with the new Massachusetts Data Security Regulations, 201 CMR 17.00, which have been in effect since March 1, 2010. All Massachusetts professionals and businesses must engage in a documented, formal procedure to identify all "personal information" in their possession, physically and electronically, relating to their employees, customers, and clients. The professional or business must then design and establish an Information Security Program (ISP) and adopt formal practices and procedures to ensure security of the identified personal information. Additionally, implementation and compliance with the program is documented by a comprehensive formal document, a "Written Information Security Program", or WISP, which addresses all aspects of data security required by the regulations. The document must also describe in detail all practices and procedures as required by the Regulations to ensure the continuing security of the personal information. Call Jeff at 617.795.0321 to discuss how he can help you with compliance.
